Educational Workshop:
Grow Your Own Shiitake Mushrooms: Log Inoculation Workshop
Mushroom enthusiasts, this one’s for you! This Wednesday, September 23, from 4–5 PM, join Jake Howard, mushroom expert and owner of The Mushroom Shop, for a hands-on workshop exploring how to grow your own shiitake mushrooms outdoors on logs.
Jake will begin with an introduction to the process of growing shiitakes, from choosing and preparing logs to inoculation and what to expect as your mushrooms develop. Then you’ll get hands-on and inoculate your own shiitake log to take home, along with the know-how to care for it.
A $10 materials fee is required and includes all supplies and your take-home inoculated shiitake log. This workshop will be held rain or shine under the High Rock Park pavilions. Come ready to drill, inoculate, learn—and leave with the start of your very own backyard shiitake harvest!
