Power of Produce (POP) Club for kids! (3-6 PM)
Children will receive $4 in POP Coins to purchase fruit and vegetables at the farmers’ market, and they will earn their sixth stamp in their POP Passport (every 4 stamps = a prize!). All thanks to the support of the Christopher Dailey Foundation.
Week 7: Roots & Routes
Follow the Roots & Routes of our community as children taste fresh carrots, discover the wonders of root vegetables, explore nature with the Master Gardeners, uncover Saratoga’s history, and express their creativity through hands-on art activities.
Activity #1: Creative Roots
Ignite your child’s imagination with C.R.E.A.T.E. Community Studios! Children will enjoy a fun, hands-on art activity that encourages creativity, self-expression, and the joy of making something uniquely their own.
Activity #2: Discover Saratoga!
Author and artist Patrice Mastrianni will be showing young artists how potatoes were used to decorate wooden baskets made by the Native Americans of Saratoga. Wooden baskets were sold by the thousands to resort visitors during the 1800s. Children will also learn how secret letters were written during the Revolutionary War. Autographed copies of Patrice’s book, Find Me in Saratoga, inspired by the History, Mystery and Folklore of Saratoga Springs will be available. Please note that this activity will begin at 3:30 PM.
Activity #3: Nature Detectives
Get hands-on with nature! Join Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Master Gardeners for a fun, interactive activity where kids can explore the natural world, discover fascinating plants and insects, and learn how gardens help support pollinators and local wildlife. Perfect for curious minds of all ages and abilities!
Activity #4: 2-Bites Club: Dig Into Carrots
Discover why carrots are a true root vegetable as you crunch into two tasty bites and learn how these colorful favorites grow beneath the soil!

Cornell Cooperative Extension: Master Gardeners
The Saratoga County Master Gardeners are passionate local volunteers who share research-based gardening knowledge with the community. From diagnosing plant and soil problems to offering seasonal gardening advice, they help local gardens thrive — and they also accept soil samples for testing to help gardeners better understand and improve their soil.
The Master Gardener Table will also have nature-themed activities as a part of POP Club!
