This recipe pairs together two favorite market ingredients: peanut butter (from Saratoga Peanut Butter) and apples (available from a few of the farms and orchards, including Saratoga Apple, Malta Ridge, and Pleasant Valley Farm). You can play with the flavors in the crumb topping by using different varieties of Saratoga Peanut Butter.

Ingredients

*Starred ingredients available at the market.

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup Saratoga Peanut Butter*

1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened

1/4 teaspoon salt

4 cups crisp cooking apples*, sliced

1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell

Directions

  1. Blend flour, peanut butter, brown sugar, butter and salt until mixture is crumbly. Spoon apples into unbaked crust; sprinkle peanut butter mixture over apples.
  2. Bake at 400 degrees F for 40-45 minutes or until filling is hot and pastry is browned. Serves 8.
