August 21: Preserving Tomatoes

At the market on Wednesday, August 21 between 3 and 6 p.m., you can learn how to blanche, freeze and can tomatoes. Plus, pick up some salsa recipes.

If you’ve got an abundance of tomatoes, come learn how to preserve them at a special educational session. Diane Whitten of Cornell Cooperative Extension will be demonstrating how to preserve tomatoes including blanching, freezing and canning. Salsa recipes for canning will be provided, plus recipes for canning your own tomato sauce.

The demonstration will run all during the Wednesday market on August 21, from 3-6 pm. Find Diane in the small tent across from the market’s information shed, between the south and center pavilions.
